Choosing Your Next Act

If you are interested in joining a committee, but are looking for more information about each committee then you have come to the right place! Committees last for the entire calendar year, meet once a week, and are a great way to get involved on campus!

 

MARKETING/PUBLIC RELATIONS (Wednesdays from 5:30-6:30 in MLC 277)

If you love seeing your creative work displayed or you’re into creating an apparel shop then this committee is the one for you! Committee members will be in charge of brainstorming poster designs for some of our biggest events this year.


COMMITTEE HEADS: SAVANNAH FORDHAM AND CHANDLER CORSINO

Savannah holds the position of Marketing Chair for HEROs. She is majoring in Advertising with a minor in Design and Media. Her favorite HEROs memory is when she attended her first kid event. At this kid event it truly put into perspective the impact we make on our group of kids!


Chandler is the public Relations Chair. In the past, she was a team member and a member of the marketing committee. She is majoring in Landscape Architecture. Her favorite thing about HEROs is the relationships she has developed with her fellow peers and attending kid events.

 

CHILD RELATIONS (Wednesdays from 7:00-8:00 in MLC 214)

If you want to develop a closer relationship with some of our kids then Child Relations is where you want to be. Committee members will have a hands-on opportunity to work with our kids and see your impact DIRECTLY. You will be pared with a child as part of our mentorship program.


COMMITTEE HEAD: This committee is run by Lerato Cummings. Lerato holds the position of Child Relations chair. She is majoring in Sociology with a minor in African-American studies. Lerato loves all things Beyonce and her dream job would be to work as Beyonce’s assistant.

 

HIGH SCHOOL RELATIONS (Thursdays from 7:00-8:00 in MLC 251)

If you were super involved in high school or wanting hands-on leadership experiences then High School Relations is your go-to committee! Members of the High School Relations committee will focus on reaching out to different high-schools across the state encouraging them to start up their own HEROs chapters.


COMMITTEE HEAD: Alex Bergeron

Alex is currently our High School Relations Chair. He is majoring in Biochemical Engineering with a goal to become a surgeon. His favorite part about being in HEROs is the people he has met and the kid events!

 

WOW! (Wednesdays from 7:00-8:00 in MLC 269)

This is the committee where creative minds come together to come up with different themes for events throughout the year, brainstorm ideas for how to raise money, and discover ways to propel HEROs. You and your fellow members will be the creative minds of what the public sees of HEROs!


COMMITTEE HEAD: Lily Valderama

Lily holds the position of WOW Chair. She is currently studying International Business and Management. Last year, she served as the Sigma Kappa Team Leader. Her favorite part of being in HEROs is the people she’s met along the way and seeing the way our kids’ faces light up when they step off the vans.

 

SPECIAL EVENTS/EVENT LOGISTICS (Tuesdays from 7:00-8:00 in MLC 207)

Members of this committee will be tasked with planning events, making decorations, and finding ways to bring people together. As a committee member you will help the Events Team plan everything from member socials to the biggest event of the year, Torch Relay! You will get to see all of your planning skills come to life in this committee.


COMMITTEE HEADS: Chelsea Summers and Kristen Braschler


Chelsea holds the position of Event Logistics Chair. Her major is International Affairs/Economics. Chelsea’s favorite part about being in HEROs is building relationships with the kids we are serving.


Kristen holds the positions of Special Events Chair. She is majoring in Cognitive Science with a minor in Psychology. Her favorite part of HEROs is how we not only focus on the ailment/situation our kids are in, but how we also put a heavy emphasis on creating a fun and meaningful childhood for each one of our kids.

 

KID EVENTS (Wednesdays from 7:00-8:00 in MLC 277)

If you are looking for a way to plan amazing experiences for our kids then look no further. By joining the Kid Events committee you will be the brains behind all of our kid events.


COMMITTEE HEAD: Cameron Anderson

Cameron is our Kid Events Chair. In her previous HEROs days she served as a team leader. She is a junior majoring in Health Promotions. Her favorite thing about being in HEROs is how HEROs is a family that comes together to serve a deserving community.


Be sure to be on the lookout for us throughout the next two weeks as we will be around campus! Feel free to stop by and ask any questions you may have! To meet each committee head make sure you come to our Committee Kickoff on Wednesday January 30th at 7 pm in MLC 102!
