There are over 12,000 children in Georgia affected by HIV/AIDS

Georgia ranks 8th in the country for the number of pediatric AIDS cases.

50% of HERO children have lost one or both parents to AIDS

90% of children come from households whose yearly income does not exceed $10,000

HERO for Children is the only organization that provides quality of life care for children infected with or affected by HIV/AIDS

UGA's HERO Olympics: University of Georgia students host the HERO Olympics every fall for children affected by HIV/AIDS in Georgia. UGA HEROs is the largest collegiate philanthropy in the Southeast, and works year-round to raise financial support HERO children from across the state. This incredible field-day event is held at the University of Georgia campus in Athens and is often the first opportunity for many of the HERO kids to experience a college campus. The event includes games, music, face painting, entertainment, and endless fun.
